Hurricane Helene Relief Program
Manual therapies, such as massage therapy or craniosacral therapy, can help ease symptoms experienced by those impacted by traumatic events. The application of gentle, compassionate touch to ease tensions in the soft tissues of the body can help to balance the nervous system, improve mobility and decrease pain and discomfort. Balancing the nervous system can also help ease feelings of being overwhelmed or anxious and can help with sleep and the ability to relax. A balanced nervous system and decreased tension in the body can help someone move through a stressful, traumatic situation with less pain and discomfort and support the healing and recovery process.
A group of licensed manual therapy professionals are volunteering their time and skills for those who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene - those who were directly impacted and those who have been providing rescue/aide services. All will need to receive care and support in order to be able to continue their healing, recovery, rescue and rebuilding efforts. We are working with non-profit rescue and relief organizations to identify those in need and connect them with our volunteer therapists.
Volunteer therapists are reserving time in their schedules to provide free trauma relief sessions for those in need. We are maintaining a list of therapists and their availability and will match you with a therapist based on location, availability, etc. If you were given our information and would like to be connected with a volunteer therapist, or if you have any questions, please send an email to Sheryl McGavin at:
